Silk Pavilion by Mediated Matter

'Inspired by the way silkworms weave delicate cocoons from a single strand of silk, the pavilion was created using a base of robot-woven threads wrapping a steel frame, completed by 6,500 live silkworms which were let loose upon this primary structure. Through a combination of careful design of the primary structure and the silkworms’ instinctive preference for darker areas of the pavilion’s surface, the pavilion’s mottled skin finds the mid-point between a scaled-up version of the insects’ own cocoons and a functional space for humans." from archidaily http://www.archdaily.com/384271/silk-pavilion-mit-media-lab/

Motion Tracking and 3dCamera Solve

Recently we have been in the process of testing some 3D motion tracking and camera solving in the office. The back plate footage was taken with just a iphone, so please forgive the grainy low resolution, and hand held camera shake. We did think about editing out the camera shake in post, but decided not to as to show (and remember) just how bad the plate motion was that was solved.

JONAH by Factory Fifteen

Factory Fiftten has released "JONAH" We say no more, other than......
this is the link to check it out for yourself.

Below is text from their web site.

FILM4, BFI & SHINE PRESENT

JONAH
Mbwana and his best friend Juma are two young men with big dreams. These dreams become reality when they photograph a gigantic fish leaping out of the sea and their small town blossoms into a tourist hot-spot as a result. But for Mbwana, the reality isn't what he dreamed – and when he meets the fish again, both of them forgotten, ruined and old, he decides only one of them can survive. Jonah is a big fish story about the old and the new, and the links and the distances between them. A visual feast, shot though with humour and warmth, it tells an old story in a completely new way.
